GLOBALGAP Certification
GLOBALGAP-EUREPGAP is an organization that sets voluntary standards for the certification of agricultural products. Large retail organizations in the European Union countries have determined the minimum standards sought for agricultural products grown in these countries and imported from abroad in order to ensure the consumption of healthy agricultural products.
The purpose of these standards is to ensure that agricultural products are offered to the end consumer in a manner that complies with human health and safety. A product with a EUREPGAP certificate; in the agricultural production process from planting the seed in the soil to the packaged product,
– It does not contain chemical, microbiological or physical residues that are harmful to human health,
– It is produced without polluting the environment or harming the natural balance,
– The well-being of people or other living creatures related to production is not adversely affected during production,
– It is guaranteed that the agricultural legislation of the country where the consumer is located and the agricultural legislation of the country where the product is grown are complied with during production.
Currently, the GLOBALGAP-EUREPGAP standard is applied to fresh fruit and vegetables, cut flowers and seedlings. However, any agricultural product for human consumption can be certified according to these standards. The scopes of GLOBALGAP (EUREPGAP) that are currently valid all over the world and whose general rules have been published are as follows;
– Production Material (Seedling, Seed)
– Fruit & Vegetable
– Flower and Ornamental Plants
– Integrated Farm Security (Cattle and Sheep Farms, Cereals, Tea, Feed etc.)
– Integrated Aquaculture Security (Trout, Sea Bass Farms etc.)
– Green (Raw) Coffee
HOW TO GET GLOBALGAP-EUREPGAP CERTIFICATE?
Producers who can apply according to the EUREPGAP Protocol can be grouped into three:
1) Individual Manufacturers (Option 1):
The individual producer applies for EUREPGAP certification. The registered production area and the relevant product processing areas are inspected by the certification body once a year with an announcement.
2) Agricultural Products Producers Unions (Option 2)
More than one producer can come together under the roof of producer associations, become institutionalized with a certain internal regulation, and apply for EUREPGAP certification as a single institution. The group establishes a quality system within itself. The certification body audits this system once a year with a random selection that will be the square root of the number of producers.
3) Equivalence:
Individual producers or producer groups apply for an equivalent EUREPGAP certificate. However, since a EUREPGAP equivalent standard has not yet been developed in our country, this option is not implemented.
EUREPGAP certificate is given to the product/products applied for by the producer or producer associations engaged in agricultural production, who apply to the certification body and are determined to be producing in accordance with EUREPGAP conditions as a result of the inspections carried out by the certification body.
There are 49 major and 99 minor control points in the EUREPGAP standard. An individual producer or producer group must comply with 100 major control points and 95 minor control points to successfully pass the inspection.
